Making a Booking

There is a 5 step booking process:

  1. Check room availability on our online calendars.  There are two calendars, one for the Main Hall and one for the Green Room, you will need to look at both if you require the whole hall.
  2. Check our pricing (below).
  3. Download and read the Hire Conditions and Fire Emergency Plan (below).
  4. Download and complete the relevant Booking Form (below).
  5. Send the Booking form to the Bookings Secretary. Either scan and email to bookings@gaskellhall.org.uk or post the booking form to The Gaskell Hall, Emesgate Lane, Silverdale. Lancashire, LA5 0RA .

Room Availability

Pricing Valid from 1st January 2026

Prices are reviewed annually and when changed affect all future bookings regardless of when the booking was originally made.

There are different rates for Coffee Mornings, Standard Bookings and Regular Bookings. There are no longer different rates for village and non-village events, nor for events where admission is charged and admission is not charged.

Coffee Morning Rates:

  • Saturdays from 09:00-12:30 – £100.
  • Stage for Coffee Morning (if available) – £20.
  • Coffee Morning hire includes; the Main Hall & lower Kitchen, tablecloths and for the Caretaker to set up and take down.

Standard Rates:

  • Whole Building – £30 per hour.
  • Main Hall & lower Kitchen and stage if available – £20 per hour.
  • Green Room and Green Room Kitchen – £12 per hour.
  • Caretaker set-up e.g. chairs & tables – £12:50 (£8 for a small set-up).
  • Caretaker take-down e.g. chairs & tables – £12:50 (£8 for a small take-down).
  • For large events e.g. Weddings or bookings that exceed a day, please contact us to discuss.

Regular User Rates:

  • Whole Building – £20 per hour.
  • Main Hall & Hall Kitchen and stage if available – £16 per hour.
  • Green Room and Green Room Kitchen – £10 per hour.
  • Caretaker set up e.g. chairs & tables – £10.
  • Caretaker take down e.g. chairs & tables – £10.

Additional Charges:

  • Hire of the Stage Lights (belonging to the Village Players) – £50.
  • Fee to run an interval bar – £10 per interval.
  • Fee to run a bar –  £30 per night.
  • Hire and laundry of the check tablecloths – £20.
  • Hire and laundry of the white tablecloths – POA.
  • Beer Pump – £15.
  • Glass Hire – £10.
  • No charge for hire of crockery or cutlery. 

Deposits:

  • For parties and large events, a refundable deposit of at least £100 will be charged.  This will be returned following the event if no extra charges for cleaning and repairs etc. have been incurred.
